I would say that a woman’s life is just like the two seasons we have in Nigeria; the wet and the dry season. when you plant in the wet season (rainy) your plants no doubt turns out fine, but the reverse is the case in dry season. That is also the case in a woman. Every woman has her own wet (fertile) and dry days (infertile), and conception can only happen in the fertile days. 90% of women do not know this, as a result there is increasing number of both unplanned and unwanted babies. Others Suffer the pain of being childless because they have simply not know their fertile days.
Billings method is a natural way of family planning, which helps a woman to either achieve, avoid pregnancy or to preselect the sex of her baby. The best time to try and conceive is during the ‘fertile window’ of the menstrual cycle; this is different for different woman. If you try to track the day your ovulation happens by counting the days, you might make a very big mistake because no one can tell specifically when ovulation occurs. In billings method, you use your body signs to know know the time around your ovulation. It is not usually the same in all the cycles. Don’t make the mistake of assuming that your ovulation is on the 14th day if you have a 28 day cycle, or 15th day if you have a 30 days cycle.
The only time a woman can conceive is during the ‘fertile window’ of the menstrual cycle. This window will vary depending on the individual’s cycle, however timing intercourse in the 6 days leading up to and including ovulation is the window with highest chance of conception
For anyone who wants to determine her fertile period, her power of OBSERVATION is very vital.
Now, let’s see what to look out for.
Look out for when your ovulation occurs! Ovulation is when a mature egg is released from the ovary, moves down the Fallopian tube, and is available in the Fallopian tube to be fertilized.
How do you know you’re ovulating?
Women’s cycles can vary and are not always as regular as clockwork, so to know that you are ovulating and on which day of your cycle you are ovulating, observe your fertility signs throughout your cycle and record them on a chart.
The most accurate methods of working out when ovulation is to keep an eye out for changes in your mucus. Around the time of ovulation, you may notice your vagina’s mucus is clear, slick and slippery, the consistency of egg white. This is the best sign of when ovulation is actually happening. It’s prime time for action.
Requirement for Conception:
The egg (ovum), a sperm that is fully alive, fertile mucus to keep the sperm alive and healthy Fallopian tubes. If you have all these requirements, be sure to achieve pregnancy.
The sperm is very sensitive to its environment and unless it is protected by fertile mucus it can not cause conception. If the vagina is slippery wet (fertile), the sperm will live and possibly up to three days after the slipperiness ends. On the other hand, if the vagina is dry (infertile) , the sperm will die.
